Wedding date: Friday 24th March 2017
How did you meet your husband?
Pete and I actually met at high school. We became friends in about year 11 but were never really close. We stayed in touch a little after school, then started dating a few years after we graduated.
Describe the proposal.
Pete proposed to me on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris! We went on a 2 month holiday to Europe over Christmas including Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Italy, Germany, and even Dubai on the way home. The European winter is so magical and we had the best time away. I had always dreamt of going to Paris and was so excited for the Eiffel tower. So, after dinner on Boxing Day we climbed the whole way to the top – it was beyond amazing. Pete asked a stranger if he could take a photo of the two of us but instead of posing with me he got down on one knee and proposed. We were very lucky the stranger kept taking photos and documented the whole thing. I of course started crying and said yes and then everybody on the tower clapped for us – it was completely surreal. I still feel like I dreamt it!
Describe your wedding theme/style.
I would say our wedding style was romantic. Everything was very soft and pretty; very effortless glam.
What made you visit Eternal Bridal?
I’d been following Eternal Bridal on Instagram for years, looking at the ‘Chantelle’ dress by Hayley Paige in particular. I was walking down High Street with my Mum and sisters when we saw the shop and thought, why not? It would be the first wedding dress shop I’d been into (I hadn’t even started looking yet!). As soon as we walked in, I saw the ‘Chantelle’ gown and pointed it out to my mum. We asked if there were any available appointments for that day and the consultant said that there was one available then and there. I tried a few other gowns on first, since the consultant recommended I saved the Chantelle until last – and when I did, it was perfect. I ordered it straight away.
Describe the moment you found your wedding dress.
It just felt right. The colour, the cut, the design, the details, the skirt – everything was just how I wanted. I walked out of the change room and Mum just said ‘Oh, that’s the one.’ Mind you, she had also said that about the last four dresses I had just tried on; so although she was sweet, she really wasn’t much help!
What do you love in particular about your wedding dress?
For me, it has always been about the skirt. I’ve always wanted the full skirt but I particularly loved this skirt because it falls so beautifully. It was soft and delicate and looked stunning from every single angle. I absolutely love the lace detail on the skirt, and the trim too. That really sold it for me!
If you could give your newly engaged self one piece of advice, what would it be?
I wouldn’t give myself any advice. I would do everything exactly the way I did because I could not have been more happy with my wedding, or the incredible man I married. Everything still feels like a dream, it was that
