NYBFW Recap: Spring 2018 Collections from JLM Couture

The month of October has come and gone once more, meaning only one thing: the next season of bridal fashion has been launched at New York Bridal Fashion Week!

Eternal Bridal’s buyers were in the privileged position of being front and centre at each of our designers’ presentations this season. Our longest standing designer group, JLM Couture, is always a New York Bridal Fashion Week favourite. With vastly different designers all sharing the catwalk, JLM Couture showcased a gown for every kind of bride. Read on for a recap of the Spring 2018 collections from Lazaro, Hayley Paige, and more.

The Spring 2018 collection from Lazaro Perez was first up on the JLM runway. Look how excited he is to get started!

A cornerstone of JLM Couture for more than 20 years, Lazaro designs are grand, dramatic, and couture-minded.

It was all about the texture this season, with the ‘King of Bling’ certainly living up to his reputation! Many gowns were so sparkly they appeared almost glitter-dipped, whilst other styles balanced the sparkle-factor with intricate, couture-like details.

The sheer range of colours was incredible. Metallics are a big trend this season, and Lazaro certainly delivered.

Sister label Tara Keely (also designed by Lazaro) continued the glamour-fest, with simplified silhouettes and subtle texture setting it apart from the Lazaro designs.

Next up, Allison Webb made her New York Bridal Fashion Week debut as the successor to the Alvina Valenta label. Webb honoured Alvina Valenta’s delicate aesthetic in her new season gowns, pairing clean lines and classic silhouettes with ultra-feminine details.

Leaning heavily on embellishment throughout, Webb’s debut collection saw some gorgeous, classic pieces grace the catwalk. Accessories that match the gown, such as veils and capes, are set to be huge this season, and Allison Webb delivered!

Jim Hjelm and Blush by Hayley Paige appeared on the runway next, building to the much-anticipated Hayley Paige finale. Softer, subtler renditions of the same Cali-cool mindest of the Hayley Paige flagship line, these labels saw feminine details, such as floral embossed fabrics, contrasted with clean, modern shapes.

Halfway through the Blush showing, the lucky audience was in for a treat – the surprise debut of La Petite Hayley Paige, Paige’s brand-new line of dresses for flower girls! The dresses (and the mini-models) were nothing short of adorable.

Finally, the JLM Press Show would not be complete without its Hayley Paige finale. This season, Hayley Paige was inspired by “listening to Bohemian Rhapsody while riding Space Mountain” – and it showed! Just look at this sketch of one of the flagship pieces from the Spring 2018 collection, the ‘Mercury’ gown:

Paige took her signature handkerchief cut cascading skirts a step further than previous seasons, pairing them with bold textures and unexpected details.

The stunning finale look, the ‘Viva’ gown, may have cemented the bold bell sleeve trend for years to come. Viva la Hayley Paige!

We can’t wait to see what our designers come up with when New York Bridal Fashion Week returns in April 2018!

If you have found a Spring 2018 gown you love, we are expecting a majority of samples from these collections to arrive in mid 2018. Please check with your preferred boutique for more information.
