INTRODUCING 'RISE' GALIA LAHAV'S SS2023 COUTURE BRIDAL COLLECTION
Posted by Annie Lu onExtravagant floral lacework, exquisite hand beadwork, detailed geometric embroidery and neo-romantic designs come together to create the jaw-dropping Spring/Summer 2023 'Rise' bridal couture collection by Israeli fashion house Galia Lahav. With the internationally renowned model Daniela Braga as the muse of this fifteen-piece collection, head designers Galia Lahav and Sharon Sever hopes to empower brides to break free from a world of work-from-home attire and casual wear to be immersed in the freedom of bold, effortless luxury bridal.
"Like a sunrise greeting the day", the Rise collection is crafted to encourage brides to "restart and refresh during this season of renewal" as if they are the most arresting bloom in a spring garden. These made-to-order couture wedding dresses are full of airy tulle netting, gossamer-like organzas, 3D lace, tailored corsets and cascading appliques. This time, the fashion house has designed for the bride's journey from the ceremony to reception with a capsule selection of personalised veils, statement capes, fancy jackets, quirky overcoats and dramatic overskirts offered as additional options. Here is a closer look at our favourite looks from the collection!
GOING STRAPLESS WITH FLORAL BALLGOWNS
Let's start with the most dramatic yet classic of wedding dresses, the ballgowns. Two dresses in this collection come in a romantic sheer sweetheart neckline corset that gives its wearer a stunning cinched waist look. For the bride who wants a more regal princess look, try Renee with her voluminous box pleat skirt and scattered floral embellishments that fade down into the hemline. For brides who prefer a softer A-line drape in the skirt, Utopia, with her pleated skirt and cascading 3D embroidery, is the one for you. If you want to add some drama, you can complete the Utopia look with matching gloves and capelet.
THE MODERN ROMANTIC BALLGOWNS
If you prefer your bridal ballgown to come with a touch more whimsical romance, then meet Euphoria with her sparkly caviar tulle, cheeky sheer side panels, off-the-shoulder straps and the beaded 3D floral embellishments. For something a touch more modern romantic, try Nirvana with her sheer square neckline, contemporary minimalist styled floral 3D lace and boldly exposed boning.
A TOUCH OF OLD HOLLYWOOD
There is nothing like having a simmer of old Hollywood style regarding luxe and glamour. These fitted-like-a-glove gowns are designed to stun and sparkle. With her sexy bodice cutouts, embellished off-the-shoulder gloves, dramatic semi-sheer train, and 3D sparkly lace, Nadia is perfect for a dramatic walk down the aisle. Try out Shiloh for her iconic GL low-back and 1920s style flare with her soft yet statement simmering silver beading and 3D embellishments. If sheer metallic glamour with costume jewellery-inspired elements is your thing, try Nala with her crystal beaded straps and light contrast panels.
PLAYING WITH GEOMETRICS
Geometric patterns are becoming a popular favourite for brides who want to make a modern, clean-yet embellished statement on their special day. For the bride who loves sharper design lines and intricate beadwork with an element of sexy in their wedding gown, try Diem with her pointy square scooped neckline, sheer corset, pearl embroidered piping and cheeky exposed laced up side and back cutouts. If something less exposed and slightly softer is on the cards, try Tokyo with her deep plunge strapless corset and sparkly diamond-shaped grid beadwork. You can also turn up the boldness with a matching, shouldered, long-sleeved bolero.
MAKING A BOLD STATEMENT
We love Galia for her daring, dramatic details, and the more fashion adventurous bride can explore these dresses if they want to make a unique statement with their wedding dress. Denise is a romantic nod to the much-loved onscreen period dramas. The fitted extra-long train gown features some cheeky sheer side panels, softly romantic 3D floral lace and a set of striking off-the-shoulder regal sleeves. For the bride who loves the satin look and is after a clean, minimalist statement dress, try Aspen with her double-faced satin, edgy lace-up cutouts, sexy high slits and exposed back. Pair it with the matching bold shoulder overcoat, and you will have a one-of-a-kind runway luxe look for your "I do".
THE OH-SO-CLASSIC GALIA LAHAV LOOK
It's not a complete Galia Lahav couture bridal collection without one or two classic Galia low-back, fitted-to-you-like-a-glove dresses. For the die-hard Galia fan who wants a touch of french romance in their wedding dress, try XO with her soft trumpet silhouette, silk polka-dotted tulle, deep V-neck plunge, highlight hints of cascading dainty beaded petals and low open back. Alternatively, Lima is the signature GL-styled illusion back fitted gown, which has the classic embroidered lace work and strappy sweetheart neckline front. Replace the traditional long veil with a matching sparkly tulle hooded cape to make for a more eye-catching and modern.
