The Special Couple: Kadee + Andy

Wedding Date: 12th February 2021

THE FIRST SIGHT & PROPOSAL

Andy and I were introduced by a mutual friend. That particular day, I was out celebrating my birthday and Andy was out celebrating the fact that it was Sunday.

Andy proposed to me when we were on holidays in United States. It was in the most breathtaking location of Lake Powell Arizona. Andy pretended to stub his toe, but I was too busy getting the perfect sunset photo and didn’t realise a thing! After I snapped the photo, I turned around and walked the 15 metres back to Andy, who was waiting on one knee with a ring. We spent the evening by the lake, celebrating with drinks and calls back home to family and friends. Our holiday was complete in LA after we picked up the ring of my dreams that Andy had designed with my favourite designer.

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

We did not have a theme as such, but I would describe our wedding as relaxed, elegant and modern. The most important thing to us was that our friends and family had fun, enjoyed themselves and mingled.

Prior to getting engaged we spoke about how beautiful it would be to get married in the southern highlands. Soon after, we were engaged and we visited Mali Brae Farm. From the moment we arrived and took in the scenery we knew this it was where we wanted to get married. The location, gardens and option to have an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception was perfect for us. Our ceremony was held down at the pond under willow trees and it was more magical than we could have imagined.

In regards to our florals, being in a creative industry myself, I made many, many mood board for the floral themes. The brief was basic and based on colours: rust, tan, nude and white with a touch of greenery. I knew I wanted to go for a textured, unstructured look and feel. I had particular flowers in mind such as orchids, disbuds and various roses. We purchased all the flowers at the markets together and focussed on purchasing from local, domestic partners. From there we spent two full days making the floral arrangements at our accomodation in Moss Vale . The results my Mum (who had recently finished studying floristry) and her friend Lyndy pulled together went above and beyond using the basic little brief I gave them, my bouquet is still one of my highlights from the day!

THE DRESS

My dream was to find a timeless gown. I wanted to be able to look back at my wedding photos without my gown dating. I also found my earrings before my dress; the baby breath pearls formed the base inspiration for the elegant look I was envisioning.

I tried on 5 gowns in total. I had emailed Eternal Bridal Sydney boutique prior to the appointment after seeing the Marla wedding gown on their website, the team there had the Marla gown ready and waiting for me to try on the day I went for my styling session. By the end of my session I had shortlisted 2 totally different wedding gowns, but both happened to be by the designer Enzoani. It took me a week to think about my two shortlisted wedding dresses and I then went back to try them both on again. This time, as soon as I put the Marla gown on, I knew this was "the gown" I wanted to get married in.

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

I don't think I can pick just one! Capturing Andy’s eyes from the top of the aisle was a moment I don't think I will ever forget. I had my Dad by my side and all my nerves went away; it all just felt perfectly right. I walked down the aisle to a trio of strings playing Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine, it was honestly the most magical moment. Another highlight was having all our family and friends in one room for one day, which is very rare, and it was the most heartwarming feeling. Oh and our flowers were out of this world too!

KADEE'S ADVICE

The wedding day goes extremely fast, so ensure there is time in the day to check in with not only your new husband but also those closest to you. Whilst planning during Covid times, it is still possible to include your loved ones. Our MC did an amazing job including our guests and the best man via live video.

KADEE'S ETERNAL BRIDAL EXPERIENCE

For my wedding dress search appointment at Eternal Bridal Sydney Boutique, I had Brooke as my stylist. From beginning to end, Brooke was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Brooke had a wealth of knowledge when it come's to wedding gowns and she was genuinely a lovely person who has a passion for helping you find “the one” for your special day.
