The Special Couple: Jacqui + Carl

Wedding Date: Friday 6th October 2017

How did you meet your now husband?

We met at Loft Bar in Sydney in 2007. I couldn't get the bartender's attention for a drink (due to my height it was hard to see me over the bar). Carl swooped in to help, we swapped numbers and met for a coffee date in Manly a week later. Coffee continued into lunch, which turned into dinner and then drinks. We've been together ever since - 11 years now.

Describe the proposal.

Carl and I were on a holiday in Port Douglas. There was a day which was designated as our 'Bachelor Date' day (I'm a massive fan of the Bachelor). Carl hired a helicopter and flew us to a private island in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. The pilot set up a picnic for us on the beach - Carl had arranged for all my favourite food and drink to be served. We went for a snorkel and then Carl  asked if I would like my rose (which is what the Bachelor gives at the end of a date). I closed my eyes and when I opened them Carl was on his knees holding a ring and asked me to marry him. We had been together close to 9 years by this stage, so it was a long time coming but definitely worth the wait!

Describe your wedding theme/style.

Classic and romantic, with a subtle hint of a coastal theme as we both grew up by the beach. Pinterest was a great source of inspiration. We were able to DIY a few things (like our wedding invitations, website and bonbonnieres). As Carl has Italian heritage we also drew inspiration from family customs (like the sugar coated almonds we served as bonbonnieres).

Describe the moment you found your wedding dress.

I had tried on at least 10-15 dresses before hand and had actually picked another dress but had been having second thoughts about it. I arranged for another appointment and the Blossom was the last gown I tried on. As soon as I put the Blossom on I knew it was the one. It fit me like a glove, had a beautiful low back, pretty off the shoulder detail and was a mermaid style - which is everything I had been looking for. I had no hesitation and I am so happy I picked it. I felt like a princess on my wedding day.

Jacqui wore ‘Blossom’ from Galia Lahav Haute Couture. See more gowns from Galia Lahav Haute Couture here

How was your experience at Eternal Bridal?

I had a wonderful experience in choosing my dress thanks to Nicole - and at every dress fitting after that initial appointment with all the ladies at Eternal Bridal. It was just my mum and I at my initial appointment and Nicole made it so special for us, it's something we will always remember. Everyone I have met at Eternal Bridal has been so attentive and professional.
