REAL BRIDE MYLEE MARRIES IN LE LEE STUDIO
Posted by Eternal Bridal onAfter 10 years in the making, Sydney real bride Mylee met her now-husband, Ash at the altar this Winter where they both said ‘I do’ to a lifetime together. We sat down with Mylee to learn all about her experience in finding the floral wedding dress of her dreams, how her bridesmaid picked Livia off the rack for her, and more.
Let’s go back to where it all began. When and how did you meet your significant other?
We met at university in 2014. We didn't study the same degree but met in the library through mutual friends. We first had a love/hate friendship but over a few months we became quite fond of each other as we were the only two that caught the same bus to and from uni. Therefore, we became extremely close. Ash then asked me out, we dated for 7.5 years, got engaged in March 2022, and now we’re married! It has been 10 years in the making!
How did your now-husband propose?
I always told him that he wouldn't be able to surprise me but he did succeed! He started planning 3 months before he proposed. He designed the ring, spoke to my parents, and then started to plan the surprise proposal by gathering my girlfriends together and telling them to plan a girls weekend trip away to the Gold Coast. We started the trip with a lovely high tea (to get me all dressed up) and then when we went to check into our hotel, Ash was standing there in front of a MARRY ME sign when we arrived.
Was there a theme for your wedding? What inspired you while styling your dream day?
I've always wanted to do the traditional Vietnamese wedding. In the morning, we had a tea ceremony so I wore a beautiful traditional red ao dai which led to our church ceremony and then reception. My theme was always a classic and romantic style with loads of floral detailing. Our colour scheme of white, blush, coral, pink, and rose.
What was the inspiration behind your bridal look?
I knew I always wanted an A-line style dress as that suits my body best and I also wanted to wear a dress that wouldn’t restrict me on the day - comfort was key! With my floral theme, I fell in love with all the dresses from Le Lee Studio and was actually stuck between 3 dresses; Archilla, Aspen, and Livia.
Describe your ‘yes to the dress’ moment. How did you feel and what made you say ‘yes’?
Before going into the boutique, I thought that Aspen was going to be THE dress for me. It was seriously my dream dress to try on and so I grabbed that one first along with Archilla and a few others. My bridesmaid actually came to Sydney with me and when I was trying on these dresses she saw Livia on the rack and said that I should try it on as well. I can’t believe Livia wasn't originally on my list to try on, because when I tried it on my bridesmaid was crying and I fell in love with it. It was so beautiful on me, and I loved that it came with a matching veil.
How was your experience at Eternal Bridal?
It was the best experience! I went to a few bridal stores prior and you guys are seriously so lovely and easy to deal with! Made the process so much more enjoyable and less stressful.
What was the highlight of your special day?
Definitely hard to pick out a certain moment, but an unforgettable highlight would be the reception. When all formalities were done, Ash and I had our first dance and it was so special as we took lessons and learnt a full routine. Ash then did a surprise dance for me and then we just got on the dancefloor with all our friends and family with alot of drinks and karaoke! It ended up being a messy and fun night!
If you could go back in time and give your newly-engaged self one piece of advice, what would it be?
At the end of the day, it's all about you on your wedding day and so don't stress over the little things. All the bumps along the way will be worth it in the end.
