The Special Couple: Josephine + Matt

THE FIRST SIGHT & PROPOSAL

Aren't digital algorithms a wonderful thing? Matt and I met on Tinder. We are learning the Italian language together. One day he brought some Italian study cards home which had general questions like "where is the train station?" and "what did you eat for dinner?" Finally, the last card said, "will you marry me" in Italian. He loves telling people that I technically proposed to him as I had to translate it to English!!! Italian will always be our love language now!

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

My husband's last name is Rose, and mine was Gardiner, so there were many Rose Gardiner puns for our wedding. We decided to have roses as our floral theme, and we used them as a motif on all our stationary. Even our priest threw in a few fun facts about roses in the ceremony on the day!

THE BRIDAL LOOK

I wanted a floral motif because I was becoming a "Rose", so the detailed appliqué on my dress was perfect. The dress was called Mimosa, the name of an Australian flower, so this was also meaningful. I love vintage styles, and the long tulle hem was my favourite part of the dress as it was very vintage Hollywood. It was flirty, fun and elegant all at the same time. I knew it was "the one."

SAYING 'YES' TO THE DRESS

When we went into lockdown, I tried on about 20 dresses. I found Mimosa on Eternal Bridal's website and was lucky enough to be squeezed in for an appointment on the last weekend of the Galia Lahav trunk show. It was meant to be! As soon as I had it on, I knew it was the one. The dress was so fun, elegant and unique. Compared to other dresses, I could tell the quality of the fabric and couture was very high. I loved the way the appliqué sparkled in the light and the lightness of the tulle. The dress just really spoke to me, and I could suddenly imagine myself at my wedding in it!

My imagination was running wild with how I could accessorise it, and I just wanted to put it on immediately! It looked even better in real life than it did on the website. The Eternal Bridal stylists were very helpful with me trying on the dress and knew about all the details. They also did everything to ensure it arrived in time despite the lockdown and assisted with having additional straps made and finding the perfect matching veil. It was a lovely experience with Eternal Bridal, and I can't thank them enough for helping me find my dream wedding dress!

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

Our highlight would have to be our disco-themed first dance. We did a self-choreographed routine to the song "Boogie Shoes" by KC and the Sunshine Band. Think index finger pointing to the sky and hip thrusting! We wanted something upbeat to get the guests in the mood for the dance floor.
