REAL BRIDE KELLY WEDS IN ENZOANI

The Special Couple: Kelly + Mike

THE FIRST SIGHT & PROPOSAL

Mike and I met as two fellow Australians living and working in London at the time. We went to a cosy little pub near to where I was living in North London. Mike had been living in the UK for seven years, and I was over on a two-year working visa. One date turned into many, and soon enough, I knew Mike was very special and the one I wanted to spend my future with. When my visa ended, we both packed up our bags and moved to my hometown in Sydney.

THE PROPOSAL

We got engaged in Western Samoa, at the most beautiful peaceful resort. Mike's brother had lived in Samoa, and it was a place special to him which he always wanted to take me to. The diamond for my ring comes from South Africa, which is where Mike was born. He designed the ring himself and had it made in Sydney.

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

We didn't have a specific theme, but we wanted our wedding to have a British feel to it as that was where we met. Our reception was in a period house, from the mid 19th century, with a very large fireplace and plenty of exposed timber and period features. The wedding venue was in a vineyard, so it had a romantic and rustic feel.

THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING 'YES' TO THE DRESS

I've spent endless hours scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram to get inspiration for my bridal look. I tried on about eight dresses from different boutiques around the Sydney CBD before finding my dress on the same day. My experience at Eternal Bridal was amazing.  I found all of the staff to be friendly and accommodating. I felt really comfortable with my store stylist Annie and found her to be helpful, patient and honest. My mum and sisters waited for me outside the change room, and I whispered to my consultant, Annie, "This is the one". I knew immediately. Once the curtain was drawn, the look that my bridal shopping party gave me confirmed it. It was pretty instant; I said "yes" to the dress!

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

My highlight would be seeing each other for the first time after all the build-up. The speeches were wonderful, funny and heartfelt. The band was amazing, and I remember looking around at our loved ones seeing everyone having a great time and enjoying themselves. We have a lot of friends and family who live abroad that were there, and we felt honoured they were there to share our special day with us. It rained during the reception. Our photographer and videographer captured the most beautiful images of us kissing with the rain falling lightly around us. Having this moment to ourselves to take it all in while our loved ones were inside enjoying the celebrations was truly special.

KELLY'S ADVICE

Enjoy the process leading up to the wedding, and don't stress about things you can't control. It will all work out perfectly! It rained non-stop during our wedding, and it just added to the romantic vibe of the whole day, plus the photographs were amazing!
