The Special Couple: Madelin + Tristan

THE FIRST SIGHT

My husband Tristan is a plumber and did some contracting for me at work for a few years (and still does). I am a real estate agent, so we started using him for maintenance work after he came into our office to introduce himself and his company. I found him really cute and had a little crush for a year before he finally asked me for a drink in Manly! He kissed me after the first 10 minutes because he wanted to make sure our 'date' wasn't just professional!

THE PROPOSAL

We had been camping around the coast of Tasmania. One week into our three-week trip. It was New Year's Eve, and Tris planned to propose at midnight when the fireworks went off. I was so tired and kept asking to return to our hotel (which we treated ourselves to as a break from the tent!). We returned to the room and went to have a drink on the balcony, which only had one chair. So I went inside, grabbed a chair, and when I returned, he was on one knee!

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

The theme for our wedding was very soft, romantic and country. Our venue was a working cattle farm with picturesque views of the land. We had lots of natural greenery and soft pinks in a fairy-light-filled barn for the reception. It was stunning.

THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING "YES" TO THE DRESS

I was going for a very romantic, country-esqe, 'running through the fields' vibe. I was aiming for a natural and effortless bridal look. I tried on a few gowns. Initially, I went to another bridal boutique. The experience wasn't pleasant, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I felt much more at ease when I met my Eternal Bridal stylist Brooke. She helped me pick out a few dresses and made suggestions based on my preferences and wedding theme/venue.

When I tried on my final gown, I cried! So did my mum, my sisters, and my best friend. I was very emotional standing in the mirror and seeing myself as a woman, a bride and a future wife. I had that teary moment you see in the movies. The wedding dress I tried on was the one, and I didn't try on any others after that. That was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

The ceremony was my wedding day highlight. There was no cloud in the sky, we were standing by the lake, and the birds were chirping in the background. I felt such stillness at that moment. It couldn't have been more perfect.

MADELIN'S ADVICE

Enjoy every moment. Take it all in and cherish it. The whole experience goes by so quickly. Do not wish it away or get caught up in the stress.
